Stucco is an exterior covering that is layered overtop of a buildings side. Stucco is durable, resilient and long lasting material, but the occasional stucco repairs are needed. Without stucco maintenance, water and other environmental factors can slowly damage the siding. If you have an old home with old stucco, it may not be necessary to remove and replace the old stucco, and in fact the stucco could be returned to its original state. Depending on the state of your stucco, you may require:

-        Stucco Maintenance

-        Stucco Repairs

-        Stucco Restoration

Stucco Maintenance

Stucco can last upwards of 80 years with proper maintenance. The amount and type of care can depend on many factors, but environmental factors such as sun, wind and rain can play the largest part in slowly deteriorating stucco. Stucco maintenance is done by simply cleaning it and removing dirt and other contaminants. This helps to keep it clean, and prevent some damage. However, over time cracks may occur, and repairs may be needed.

Stucco Repairs

Stucco repairs are necessary when overtime, hairline cracks begin to emerge. These cracks, if left unchecked, can allow water to enter and damage the wood or other building material underneath the stucco. In addition, water freezing in these cracks during the cold months can cause the cracks to grow and become a larger issue. Thankfully, if repaired early, the process is fairly simple, and very affordable.

Stucco Restoration

If repairs are neglected, restoration of the stucco siding may be necessary. This can involve removing large areas of siding, possibly fixing or replacing material underneath, and reapplying patches of new material. Restoration is still a more efficient and cheaper option compared to replacing the entire siding.

Proper stucco restoration on an old home should be done by an expert at Choice Stucco. Matching the old siding, and having the new patches blend in seamlessly is a difficult task, and one that should be left to the professionals.
