Smooth

For a modern architectural look, homeowners often opt for a smooth or polished appearance. The stucco is troweled on until it is smooth.

Sand

A sand or “float” finish incorporates sand into the finish giving a grainy look. This textured look can vary from very fine grained to rough depending on what the client wants.

Dash

A dash finish is rough with small peaks that protrude. The look is more rustic in appearance and less flat and sleek.

Lace

A lace finish has an intricate rough appearance that looks like lace. It gives a Spanish or Mediterranean look and is great for hiding imperfections.

Scraped

A scraped finish starts with a smooth finish and then a tool is dragged across the surface to show other colour tones beneath. It is not the easiest finish to apply.

There are lots of other finishes often specific to certain geographical areas such as combed, cat’s face, Venetian, English, Glacier and Santa Barbara. It is also important to remember that it is easy to change stucco’s colour and the colour can play a big role in the overall look of the finish.
